You’ll go completely cuckoo for this clock shop challenge

Dan and Holly Hoffman have launched the Cuckoo Race to the public after the game featured on TV in a segment of the Amazing Race.

The Clock Shop in Montville has an exciting new in-store game launched during the June School holidays.

The Cuckoo Race is completely free to play and invites visitors to find one of four stickers hidden inside the hundreds of cuckoo clocks at the shop.

The challenge? There are literally hundreds of cuckoo clocks adorning the  walls   with each set to go off at different times. So finding the symbol is no easy feat. To make things even more difficult, the symbols change places daily.

“We wanted to create a fun way for customers to play the game and potentially win some prizes,” said owner Daniel Hoffman. “The idea is quite simple — customers simply find the hidden symbol behind the door of one of the cuckoo clocks, and tell the staff what the symbol is.”

Once the symbol has been found, customers share a photo on social media to enter a monthly prize draw and the major prize draw at the end of the year.

“We wanted to really reward our customers who play the game, and so we carefully selected the major prize to be a handcrafted mechanical cuckoo clock from the Black Forest of Germany,” said Daniel.  “This amazing prize will be awarded via random selection on December 1 to one lucky contestant, making for a fantastic early Christmas present!”

The concept hatched earlier in the year when the Cuckoo Shop was challenged by TV producers to come up with a fun challenge for contestants on The Amazing Race. The  appearance provided national exposure and resulted in an increase in visitor numbers to the already bustling store. There’s an array of prizes to be won including a cuckoo clock from the Black Forest of Germany worth $1890.

The Clock Shop has become a ‘must see’ for visitors having welcomed over 3 million customers through their doors since 1993.

• The Cuckoo Race is fun for adults and children. Play the game at the Clock Shop at 194 Main Street in Montville. The race will run until November 30.
