Rotary Club of Nambour says no to Domestic Violence!

Serving the community at the Show.

During the recent Sunshine Coast Show, members of the Rotary Clubs of Nambour and Cooroy served the local community with food and drinks, the income from which will support the local community at this time of great need when people are struggling even more due to cost of living pressures.

The Rotary Club of Nambour supports many diverse needs in our community: the young, old, homeless, health services, and many more.

Nambour Rotarians were seen at their food stall sporting new shirts promoting the Rotary campaign: “Say NO to DV, and YES to Respectful relationships”. Domestic Violence is a massive social problem that needs to be fixed.

The figures are sobering: intimate partners were responsible for 38% of women murdered worldwide and 30% of women are victims of DV. Men are also often victims of DV, making the Rotary “Say No to DV” even more timely and relevant.

The aim of the “Say no to DV” campaign is to raise awareness of this scourge on our society, to raise funds, and to change behaviour to promote Respectful Relationships. This campaign was initiated by the Rotary Club of Ballina-on-Richmond and has since spread across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. The message is simple but powerful: “Say NO to Domestic and Family Violence, Say YES to Respectful Relationships” which essentially, urges us “to be Kind” to one another.

For 75 years, the Rotary Club of Nambour has been serving our local and world community, helping to make a better life for those in need. In addition to its many projects, the Rotary Club of Nambour now seeks to make a massive difference by reducing the incidence of Domestic Violence that destroys lives, and families.
