Muscle on the Mountain car show returns to Maleny

Last year the event attracted 2900 visitors and 570 vehicles to the Maleny Showgrounds.

In what will be its 11th year of running, Muscle on the Mountain will return to the Maleny Showgrounds on Sunday the 7th of July.

Hosted by the Apex Club of Maleny and the Maleny Show Society, Muscle on the Mountain has grown in size each year, and this year promises to be a bumper display of all things motor.

“Last year we had 2,900 visitors and 570 vehicles on display,” said Apex Club spokesman, Sam Price.

“We managed that with very little time to organise the event and after a pandemic hiatus, so this year we are hoping to blow those figures out of the water.

“It was a fantastic day and it allowed us to raise funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, as well as many other local charities and organisations,” he said.

“The event is put together one hundred percent by volunteers and every cent raised goes to a range of worthy causes. The sheer number of people who are willing to put their hand up and volunteer in our community never ceases to amaze.”

This year, visitors can expect to see cars, trucks, utes, motorbikes, tractors and farm vehicles of all vintages, in mint condition and on display.

There will be food and coffee available, and entertainment for the kids, as well as some snappy ‘Muscle’ merchandise available for purchase.

“There is pretty much something for everyone,” said Sam. “If past years are anything to go by, we generally enjoy fantastic hinterland winter weather, and everyone just has a great time.

“The event starts at 7am but we’ll start lining cars up at daybreak around 6:30, and the event finishes at 1pm. Cost of entry is $5 cash per person, at the gate.”
