The Palmwoods Art and Craft Group will be holding their 2021 Craftfest and Exhibition “All Things Bright and Beautiful” on Saturday the 24th of July from 9am to 3pm at the Palmwoods Bowls Club. “What we spend all year making is what we exhibit,” said group member, Marlene Earle.

The Palmwoods Art and Craft Group covers a wide range of arts and crafts, for their 70 members. Groups meet weekly, fortnightly or monthly depending on the needs of each group. Members can go to as many sharing days as they please depending on their interest. There are two different types of painting, as well as fabric painting and textile art. There is also a very strong machine embroidery group meeting weekly, and a paper craft group that meets monthly.

The patchwork group meets every Tuesday and is involved with making quilt tops for charity quilts. These are then quilted and donated to Sunshine Coast charities in need of quilts for their clients. Another quilting group meets on the first Saturday of each month.  Some ladies knit or crochet while others prefer hand embroidery.

“As we have a lot of older, talented women in our group there is always plenty of help and advice for anyone starting a new hobby,” said Marlene.

On the day of the exhibition as well as a display of all the beautiful quilts and art and craft, there will also be vendors selling fabric and accessories. “The Patchwork Angel and The Sewing Mill are two of our vendors and they have really lovely materials to inspire,” she said.

“This year we have art and craft items for sale and all proceeds will be donated to our chosen charity, Cittamani Hospice Service, which is based here in Palmwoods. There will be raffle tickets sold on the day with prizes drawn every hour, as well as the main raffle with 4 big prizes. The first prize is a quilt and the proceeds of the main raffle will be donated to our charity for the day, Cittamani.”

Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be available at the Bowls Club.
