Top quality songwriting, a freshly renovated venue and audiences that can hear a pin drop – this and more is on offer at Sunday Folk Revival on August 22 at Nambour’s Black Box Theatre.

After a prolonged break the popular Sunday afternoon concert is back, hosted by Nambour’s own award-winning folk songwriter Karen Law and her talented musical family.

“The aim has always been to bring a high quality show to town and provide a listening venue where these fine musicians can be truly appreciated,” said Karen.

“We are blessed with a great many top musicians in South East Queensland, so for this first show back we don’t need to source acts from over the border.

“I can’t wait to see our loyal crowd back at Sunday Folk and able to enjoy these concerts again. It would be great to see some new faces too.”

Local legend Noel Gardner, previous winner of the Australian Songwriting Association awards, is performing with his partner Alex Bridge.

Noel has been a stalwart of the Sunshine Coast folk scene for many years as well as being part of the organising crew for Woodford and later the Maleny Music Festival.

He has also travelled the country performing, most recently at the Top End Folk Festival in Darwin.

Americana husband and wife duo Those Folk will be bringing their multi-instrumental show to the concert. Lawrence, originally from California and Clare, originally from Gympie, feature vocal harmonies alongside guitar, accordion, banjo, harmonicas and percussion. Their heartfelt lyrics tell tales of travels, love, nostalgia and hope.

Finally, host Karen Law will be sharing the stage with two of her children creating a trio of guitars, bass and harmonies with a healthy dose of family banter.
