Nambour News and Casket Agency owners Rodney and Marisa Page ... “Customers especially love our scented candles and diffusers because they make great, affordable gifts”.

Nambour locals will be familiar with the friendly faces of Rodney and Marisa Page behind the counter of the Nambour News and Casket Agency in C-Square Nambour. Rodney was born and raised in Nambour, and started out as a Financial Advisor. Marisa’s first career was in nursing.

“We both wanted to try our hand at something different and in 2018 we saw this business come up for sale on Gumtree, so we took the plunge,” said Marisa.

“When we first started out, there was some interesting and ‘ancient’ stock we had to get rid of,” she laughed. “But since then, we have steadily rearranged things and added new lines.”

“Because of the layout of the shop we moved a lot of stock from the upstairs section at the back to the front of the shop, to make it more accessible to our elderly customers,” Rodney said.

“We have introduced some really lovely cards, wrapping paper and giftware which is handy for people who are buying last minute gifts. Customers especially love our scented candles and diffusers because they make great, affordable gifts,” Marisa said.

Nambour News and Casket Agency have a large range of papers and magazines (including the Sunshine Valley Gazette!), and still offer a convenient home delivery service to local customers.

“We have introduced a little in-store book exchange, which people seem to enjoy,” said Rodney. “Most of our customers still prefer a hard copy book, magazine or newspaper.”

Nambour Newsagency is an agent for Cartridge World, which is handy for both businesses and domestic use customers alike. “It saves having to drive to the Coast to replace cartridges,” Rodney said.

At the Nambour Newsagency, you can buy Scratchies and Lottery tickets, and even pick up an award winning Beefy’s pie.

“You’d be surprised at how many people like to grab a pie while they are here,” Marisa said. “We sell them either hot or cold, so you can take them home and heat them up there. They are such yummy pies.”

While you are at Nambour Newsagency, keep your eyes open for their regular giveaways, which have proved popular with customers.  “Last month’s giveaway was a 43” LED HD Smart TV, so you can imagine how popular it was!,” Rodney said. “It’s a lot of fun thinking up great new things to give away to our loyal customers.”
