Garden Club’s 40th Anniversary

Nambour Garden Club’s first meeting was held in 1979.

Nambour Garden Club’s first meeting was held in 1979.

In 1979 two Nambour ladies from Buderim Garden Club were invited by Garden Clubs Australia to form a Nambour Garden Club.

There were 32 attendees at the first meeting in a local garden in 1980.

Meetings progressed from being held in many beautiful gardens and parks, to the Uniting Church Hall where the large vibrant Club now meets.  Some of the inaugural members are still members to this day. Over the years the Club has supported many charities, raised funds in times of need during droughts, floods and bushfires, and supported and encouraged many local schools through their garden projects.

In 2005 Nambour Garden Club hosted the GCA Biennial Convention, and more recently supported the 2019 Norfolk Island GCA Convention.

Plans are complete for celebration of this special anniversary, which had to be postponed as another casualty of Covid.
