After taking over Yandina Feed Barn in September last year, Rob and Cara Ceccato have been hard at work giving the iconic Yandina building a makeover.
“We have basically given the entire building a freshen up,” Cara explained. “There was a lot of work behind the scenes that is not visible, like all new wiring, but we have had lots of feedback about the more obvious work we have done.”
The couple have restored the beautiful facade of the Feed Barn, including sanding and repainting, and replacing an old piece of corrugated iron at the front, with an authentic barn window.
“We didn’t even realise that the piece of iron was covering up a window, so it was a bit of a surprise when we pulled it off,” she said.
“When people understood that the treatment we have used in that space is consistent with the style of the building, they were really happy about it.”
Charity Fundraiser
Inside has also had a makeover, with a brand new shelving system.
“We can’t wait for people to come in and see how it has all come together,” Cara said.
To celebrate the “re-opening” of the Yandina Feed Barn, Rob and Cara will be hosting a charity fundraising event, combined with an education day on Saturday, March 29.
Sausage Sizzle
“We were keen to support the efforts of the Sunshine Coast Dunga Derby, and proceeds from the sausage sizzle we will be putting on, will be donated to this fabulous cause,” she said.
“There will be reps from our various suppliers such as Ridley and Nexguard on hand, to talk to you about their pet and stock care products. Sunshine Coast Farrier Services will be there to advise about effective hoof care management, Megan Simpson Equestrian will be speaking to guests about Equine Sports Massage and Shiatsu, and Hinterland Veterinary Services will talk about Qld Itch Management, Understanding “big head” and the ongoing management required in South-East Queensland.
“There will be some incredible information for our guests on the day.”
And the couple have not forgotten about the little ones either.
Face painting, petting zoo
“For the kiddoes, we have face painting and a petting zoo, so they should have a fun morning as well!”
The event will run from 8am to 1pm, so make sure you head along and check out the new look Yandina Feed Barn.
