Nambour charity launches Love Food, Give Food Campaign to combat food insecurity

The Everyday Foundation Operations Manager Karen Gullo.

Nambour's Everyday Foundation has launched the inaugural Love Food, Give Food campaign, calling on the community to join in their mission to tackle the growing food insecurity problem.

Operations Manager Karen Gullo from the Everyday Foundation (formerly known as Suncoast Care) emphasising the need for community support. “The Everyday Foundation’s commitment to meeting people in their place of need remains unwavering. For more than two decades, we have provided a place of connection and community, helping individuals break free from poverty. This campaign is a crucial step in ensuring that we continue this important mission,” said Ms Gullo.

The Love Food, Give Food campaign invites local restaurants and cafes to participate by asking patrons to add a small donation to their bills. Notable local businesses, including Rick’s Garage in Palmwoods, have joined the initiative.

Rick’s Garage, owned by the Jamieson family, expressed their enthusiasm for the campaign. “Partnering with The Everyday Foundation allows us to make a meaningful impact in an area we know all too well: food. Recognizing the direct effects of the cost of living and how difficult everyday life has become for some of our local members, we want to enhance our role as community supporters,” they said.

The campaign will culminate in a grand fundraising event, the Zaleta Love Food Give Food Long Lunch, at Flaxton Gardens on August 30, 2024. This event will feature a three-course lunch in a picturesque setting, celebrating the unity and generosity of the Sunshine Coast. Restaurants that raise $1000 or more will be rewarded with complimentary tickets to this exclusive event.

“Together, we can ensure that no one on the Sunshine Coast goes hungry and make a lasting difference,” said Karen.
