Borumba Pumped Hydro procurement workshop for local businesses

Nicklin MP Rob Skelton and Small Business Minister Lance McCallum are to host a Procurement Workshop at Nambour RSL next Wednesday, 18 September 2024.

For local businesses looking to the future, the Miles Government’s Big Build – including the Borumba Pumped Hydro project that is set to create 2,000 jobs – could see billions of dollars invested in the region’s small and medium businesses through direct tenders and subcontracts.

The local project is already delivering benefits for the region with new businesses investing locally and workers moving into the Nambour CBD for the new Queensland Hydro headquarters on Currie Street.

Skelton is personally inviting all Sunshine Coast and Hinterland businesses and community organisations who wish to learn more about how to access the government procurement benefits available from the Build Build and Borumba Hydro.

Nicklin MP Rob Skelton said “I want all local businesses to be able to share in the billions of dollars in benefits from our Big Build and Borumba Hydro.

“Borumba Hydro means jobs and opportunities for business growth across the Sunshine Coast and Hinterland region.

“Our small and medium businesses are the lifeblood of our economy, so Labor’s drive to back Queenslanders over multinationals ensures that our local businesses are at the front of the queue for contracts.

“I’ve already seen a massive increase in business confidence in Nambour and surrounds from the benefits a long-term major infrastructure project like Borumba Hydro brings here.

“I encourage all businesses who want to learn more about the benefits on offer to come along on 18 September and hear from the Small Business Minister and DESBT’s Procurement Advisor on how businesses can access procurement contracts to grow their businesses.”
