Local artist transforms 12 Queen Street into vibrant creative hub

Ali Atkinson, a mixed media, ceramic and textile artist has transformed 12 Queen Street in Nambour into a dynamic working studio and ‘Rogues Gallery’.

Atkinson, who has lived in Nambour since 2016, decided to open her studio after her art materials began to take over her home.

“I wanted to contribute to the revival of this charming little street and be a part of our wonderful creative community,” Ali said.

The space is a working studio and the “bricks” of a “bricks and clicks” art gallery that will occasionally hosts art exhibitions and participate in open studio events.

But Ali is focused on setting up the space, producing art and developing “Moral Fibre,” a sustainable fashion and textiles label.

An unforeseen health issue in the family has delayed the physical opening. In the meantime she is busy building her website and social media presence.

“I’m excited to eventually showcase my work, including fine art prints, fashion, jewellery, textiles and ceramics,” she added.

Ali draws artistic inspiration from nature “its beauty, its fragility, it’s pure awesomeness and humanity’s relationship with the planet that sustains us”.

She is planning for a gallery opening mid to late October. While the studio is not currently open to the public, Ali encourages art enthusiasts to connect with her via Instagram www.instagram.com/atkinson.ali, Rogues Gallery Facebook Page or call 0431 622 677 to arrange private viewings.

“If you’re interested in owning unique art for your home or workplace and supporting a local artist, I’d love to chat,” she said.

• For updates and to support Atkinson’s creative journey, she invites locals to scan the QR code on her studio door to like and follow her social pages.
