Woodies to showcase their crafts in Montville

Being a woodworker means that you know the satisfaction and pride that comes from using your hands and mind to build beautiful, functional objects and that you’re as interested in the process as the outcome.

Woodcraft enthusiasts and families can look forward to an exciting weekend as the Blackall Range Woodcrafters Guild, affectionately known as ‘The Woodies,’ hosts their annual ‘Wonderful Weekend of Wood’ on May 3 and 4 at Montville Sportsground.

From 9am to 3pm each day, the free event promises a wide array of woodcraft displays, engaging demonstrations, and friendly competitions showcasing local woodworking talent.

Visitors will also have the chance to participate in free shed tours, providing insight into how the Woodies create their popular crafts.

Event highlights include woodworking demonstrations by experienced artisans, competitive woodworking showcases, and the chance to win handcrafted items in raffles. Guests can also enjoy refreshments from an onsite coffee van.

“This weekend is a fantastic opportunity for people of all ages to appreciate the art of woodworking, meet local craftspeople, and see firsthand how various items are crafted,” organisers said.

With free admission and parking, the Woodies encourage families, friends, and woodworking enthusiasts to join the fun.

Montville Sportsground is at 230 Balmoral Road, just three kilometres south of Montville.
