Where country meets chaos
Boutique owner Maddi O’Leary says Champagne Lou Lou is the love child of Country and Chaos. And although she is young, it’s little wonder Maddi has such an eye for quality and style.
“From as far back as I can remember, my mum took me to antique shops, and shopping for collectables,” Maddi said. “I think it was the beginning of my love of old things. I appreciate quality and craftsmanship and I credit my mum with teaching me how to spot it. When I was 14 I started my own market stalls in places like Ocean Street, Fisherman’s Road and on the Gold Coast.
“I design my own line of hide handbags and have been selling them at the markets, which was where I was also able to find some of the interesting pieces that I now sell here.”
The markets proved to be incredibly successful for Maddi, so much so that with the support and encouragement of her dad, she made the decision to set up a permanent business selling her own handbags, as well as the other fashion items she has an incredible knack for finding.
“I had a pop up shop in Coolum for a while, but then the opportunity came up for me to move here,” Maddi said. “I grew up in Yandina, and the vibe of this place is actually perfect for what I do.”
Champagne Lou Lou is aptly situated in a quirky, heritage listed shop front and is packed with superb vintage and one off pieces.
“It’s a bit of a treasure trove in here for people who love pretty things and one-of-a-kind clothing,” Maddi said. “I have preloved and new clothing, vintage, designer, leather, a handmade linen line and my cowhide collection. There are also loads of options to accessorise, with sunglasses, boots and sandals.”
Sprinkled liberally amongst the larger items you will find little gems such as silver jewellery, and crystals.
“I take every opportunity to stock products that are sustainable and ethically sourced. I think this is really important,” said Maddi. “A lot of my collection comes from Melbourne and Brisbane. I hope that when people shop here, they feel free to play with styles and enjoy being able to mix the old with the new. It’s what I am all about, because I’m sentimental like that.”
