Thieves take off in young carpenter’s hard-earned ute, before he could drive it

Have you seen this vehicle, which was stolen last week? It belongs to Rhett, 17, pictured.

A first year apprentice carpenter from Eudlo has had his ute stolen by thieves before he was able to get his licence.

“My son has worked hard and saved and payed cash for this very clean original Hilux,” said his father Tim Dodd.

“Then some grub stole it last night (Tuesday February 1) from our property at Eudlo. He’s been counting down the days until his 17th birthday and getting his licence.”

Mr Dodd urged locals to keep their eyes peeled for the vehicle. Indeed, there were hopes of tracking down the criminals after a possible sighting.

“We had a lead at 2.10pm this afternoon (Wednesday February 1). A lady was cut off in traffic by an exact looking Ute driven by two young boys. The ute had no plates on it. Any dash cam footage of the Nambour connection Road Blackall St intersection could be helpful,” said Mr Dodd, adding that the vehicle has a football-size ding in driver’s side guard.
