Christmas concert at St George’s-in-the-hills

Prepare to sing along with traditional Christmas favourites such as “Deck the Halls’ and “Hark the Herald Angels”

It’s not Christmas till you’ve been to Kim Kirkman’s annual popular Christmas concert at St Georges-in-the-Hills. Bookings are now open for a seat in the church at 2 Walker Drive on Sunday December 15 at 2pm.

This year you are getting a double slice of joy with two of Kim’s choirs combining, the Inspiration Choir and Caloundra Community Choir, so the church will be ringing. They have also had a practice run. This concert has already performed at Caloundra to a standing ovation.

“It will be lots of fun, with some of our regular soloists Chloe Musgrove, Paige Allen, Barrie and Pam Woods and others, as well as plenty of audience participation,” said Kim.

So brush up your vocal cords and prepare to sing along with traditional Christmas music like ‘Deck the Halls’ and ‘Hark the Herald’.

Kim couldn’t be persuaded to divulge his own contributions, but they are always much-awaited. And you never know what he might do, Kim’s musical abilities are renowned. Apart from conducting his several choirs across the Sunshine Coast and Hinterland, he is a professional violinist, a harpist and a tenor. And as one of the original Ten Tenors, Kim’s voice is something worth waiting for.

He also has a great sense of fun. Dressed in Christmas gear, his presentations are always full of energy and laughs. You will leave the concert with a smile and a good feeling that Christmas is alive and well in Maleny.

And after the concert walk the few steps to the church hall where there will be some traditional Christmas fare for you and a cup of tea or coffee. That is free, and being arranged by the concert committee, Susan Myring, Trish Bagshaw, Margaret Walker and Judi Ross-Smith. They have also put together a fantastic Christmas raffle if you want to try your luck.

You can book at event.humanitix.com/joy-of-christmas-concert-with-the choirs-of-kim-kirkman, by phoning Susan on 0407 953 225 or 07 54943062, or chance it and buy your ticket at the door. You might be lucky, but remember space is limited. You can use a card or cash, $25 and children free.
