Singers to connect Hinterland communities for our firies

A little bit of Maleny is heading to Woombye very soon and it is all for a very good cause. The Maleny Singers will perform, Merrie England, at four concerts to raise funds for the rural fire brigade service in both Maleny and Woombye, and with the fire season upon us the timing is perfect.Three concerts will be held in Maleny and one in Woombye, it will be the first time the singers perform in Woombye and with limited seats available bookings are essential. The Maleny Performing Arts Orchestra will accompany the singers.  Musical Director, Margaret Taylor established the partnership between the Maleny Singers and Maleny Performing Arts Orchestra, and the joint venture is a spectacular experience for the audience. The Maleny Singers was formed in 2003 and have been thrilling audiences with operettas as well as concerts, Christmas carols and singing at the Maleny Anzac Day commemorations. In June this year they performed Pirates of Penzance and have presented Die Fledermaus in 2013 as well as The Merry Widow in 2012. Singers range in age and experience and come together for the love of song. Local community groups including the Maleny Hospital Auxiliary and the Maleny Neighbourhood Centre have been beneficiaries from the various performances.Maleny RSL is sponsoring the Maleny concerts and The Woombye School of Arts Hall is supporting the Woombye concert. Be sure to book your tickets early as seats are limited at each concert. For more information and tickets, drop into the Maleny Visitor Information Centre or the Woombye Library. You can also book online.
