Business writeup: Lisa Clune, Set Together Jewellery

Nambour master jeweller Lisa Clune last week opened the doors to her business’s new home at Forest Glen.

Set Together Jewellery’s new studio and workshop offers a warm and inviting environment for people to meet and enjoy consultations with master jeweller, Lisa Clune.

“I wanted to design a space where people could see my original pieces on display, and where we could comfortably sit and work together to design new pieces, or redesign existing ones,” Lisa said.

Lisa said the value of a client’s jewellery was not just represented in diamonds or gold — but that each piece also contains precious memories.

“Everything I do is custom made and consultation is such an important part of the process. This is particularly important when it comes to designing engagement and wedding rings because they often signify the most important event in the wearer’s life to date.

“I have found that my clients love to incorporate all kinds of tiny or hidden details into their rings that make them truly personal and special. It is such a privilege to be part of this process with a couple and to know that the piece I design and make for them marks the beginning of the next chapter of their story.”

Set Together Jewellery is far from the average jewellery shop. Every aspect of the decor invites guests to relax and immerse themselves in all aspects of the consultation, design and manufacturing process.

From the plush carpeting, plump velvet armchairs, and rich timber detailing, to the view through to the workshop, visitors are invited into the end to end process of jewellery making.

“I have enjoyed putting this space together so much,” Lisa explained. “Finding the individual pieces to furnish it has been incredibly rewarding. I think my favourite find has been the vintage timber and glass display cabinet from an old chocolate shop that now houses my original designs. In my mind, I wanted to create a ‘stage’ for my jewellery, and this gorgeous piece does the job beautifully.

“Often jewellery is displayed in hard, bright light and the harsh white surrounds tend to overwhelm the pieces themselves. I have tried to create a space that showcases by contrast, neutral tones against the jewellery and the few pieces on display to enhance the fact that each piece is special,” Lisa said.

“At the same time, I am a manufacturing jeweller and I do not outsource my work off site. I quite like the idea of clients being able to see where their jewellery is being made, although now I have to keep the workshop really tidy,” she laughed.

Business built on foundations
of working together

Since its inception in late 2021, Set Together Jewellery has grown in leaps and bounds.

“I can’t believe how far I have come, and I am so grateful for the help and support I have had which has made this growth possible,” said Lisa.

“I think that apart from offering the highest standard of work I am capable of, this is a business that is all about relationships and treating people well.

“That is part of the gift of being a privately owned business; the buck stops with me and I never treat people like they are just a number. I am acutely aware of the emotional significance of the purchase of a piece of bespoke jewellery.

“Whether I am remodelling and bringing new life to existing jewellery, or designing an engagement ring or wedding bands, I pour my heart into every single piece,” Lisa said.

“It is an indescribable feeling to know that I have a little place in the life of the precious metals and gemstones that are ‘set together’ to take their place in the story of the wearer. I can’t imagine doing anything else.”
