If you have a drawer full of jewellery that you never wear because it is broken, doesn’t fit, is impractical, or no longer suits your style, you might want to consider having it remodelled.

“One of the best things about remodelling is that it is the most sustainable form of jewellery making,” said Nambour Master Jeweller, Lisa Clune.

“It also allows you to create a brand new chapter in the story of a piece of jewellery.”

With over a decade of experience ‘on the bench’ under her belt, Lisa has honed her trade in both jewellery design and manufacturing.

“I was fortunate to have worked for master jewellers in Melbourne before moving to Nambour and starting my own business, Set Together Jewellery,” Lisa said. “I have worked with exquisite gemstones and designs, and while I love to design bespoke new pieces for my clients, I have a real passion for remodelling.”

Remodelling jewellery presents a unique set of constraints and challenges for jewellers.

“It is actually quite an interesting process,” Lisa explained. “Although I have seen literally thousands of configurations in my career, some of my new designs have never been in my head before.

“I am usually limited to the stones I am given and I have to look at each of them individually, understand the style preferences of my client and the way they would like to wear the jewellery. I also really love to learn the story that comes with each piece. From there, the design process almost takes on a life of its own.

“I have recently completed work for a client who gave me seven pieces of jewellery which, after careful consideration, we turned into three. It was lovely to learn about the significance of each piece and to create pieces that have combined new design elements that were important to her.”

“I used to feel so guilty when I thought about my jewellery because I never wore it,” said client, Tanya Outridge.

“That included my engagement ring and other rings and earrings that were given to me for special occasions and milestones like birthdays and the birth of our children. I didn’t wear them because they were too tight or there were stones missing and I was afraid of losing more. And because I had so many rings that I never wore, I didn’t feel I could justify buying new ones!

“Now I can wear my jewellery every day. I am quite hard on jewellery and Lisa has taken this into consideration in the redesign. My rings are beautiful, practical and better reflect my taste now.

“I sometimes find myself looking at them and can’t quite believe I own such beautiful things. Plus I really enjoyed working with Lisa.

“She made the entire process so easy and it was exciting to have a selection of designs to choose from. It was also significantly less expensive than replacing my jewellery with equivalent pieces. I could not be happier.”
