Firm reshaping accounting practices in Nambour

Partners at Hinterland Accountants & Advisors, Brett and Dee Piercy. “We work hard to improve the livelihoods of business owners by ensuring their hard work and sacrifices are worthwhile.”

BUSINESS WRITEUP: Hinterland Accountants & Advisors

After servicing the Beerwah community for many years, Hinterland Accounting has become a well-established and respected firm within the local community.

In the past 12 months, the practice has undergone a series of transformations, most notably, a rebranding and renaming to Hinterland Accountants & Advisors and the introduction of a new partner, Danielle Booth.

The team are very excited to be opening a new office in Nambour this month in order to offer their immense experience and expertise to clients on the Coast and in the hinterland.

Partner, Brett Piercy, started his career in tax advisory in Sydney and after many years working in a Big 4 firm, realised that the way he wanted to serve his clients was not in alignment with that corporate environment.

Brett will be working across both practices but will be heading up the new Nambour office and working alongside his wife Dee in an effort to consult and advise on areas that might have been commonly provided by larger practices.

Practical advice regarding property sales, subdivision & development

While all the traditional accounting services will  be accessible through the Nambour office,  Hinterland Accountants & Advisors have recognised the need to diversify into new areas.

One of those areas involves helping landowners navigate often complex and overwhelming property issues.

“We are particularly keen to help landowners navigate through the complexities of tax and GST when thinking about property sales, subdivision and even development,” Brett said.

With a background in taxation law, Brett is well placed to provide advice regarding these challenging issues.

“We give our clients the opportunity to get the right people around them to understand whether it may be financially prudent or viable for them to subdivide and develop their property,” Brett said.

“At first glance, it may seem like a great idea but sometimes preliminary feasibility analysis reveals that it is not viable.

“We help clients understand the tax implications; GST rules and costings so that they can make an informed decision.”

Firm to help clients navigate intergenerational wealth transfer

Hinterland Accountants & Advisors also recognise a real need to support families to deal with the generational transfer of land, wealth and even the family business.

“This can be a huge challenge as we are not only dealing with substantial assets, but also family relationships and the emotional dynamics that invariably go with that,” said Brett.

“The Sunshine Coast is an affluent part of the country, and these issues are not the sole domain of capital cities. We have dealt with many high net wealth clients in Sydney and in our experience it is always prudent to put structures and strategies in place, rather than managing this in a reactive way. Intergenerational wealth transfer planning is something that can be a touchy subject but according to Brett, it is vital to plan ahead.  “Just starting the conversation is often the hardest aspect of this,” he said.

Proactive strategies to reward all your hard work

Hinterland Accountants & Advisors services are supported by a highly professional and skilled team to ensure their clients’  sacrifices in business are producing the outcomes they work so hard to achieve.

While the Nambour office will focus more on advisory matters, between the two offices the firm offers taxation, accounting, and the provision of forward planning services to individuals, businesses, superannuation funds and associations.

“We are a family of financial specialists who all bring our own expertise to the table,” said Brett.

He said Hinterland Accountants & Advisors  focussed wholeheartedly on building and nurturing long-term relationships with clients.

“Because, as cliched as it may sound, our clients’ success is our success,” said Brett.

“We work hard to improve the livelihoods of business owners by ensuring their hard work and sacrifices are worthwhile.”

The new office is now taking meetings by appointment only. You can contact them at Hinterland Accountants & Advisors, 30 Mill Lane Nambour. Phone 5439 0188.
