Free self-defence workshop for trail runners in Maleny

As a trail runner, Joanne Turner, pictured, knows the importance of safety while enjoying the outdoors.

“All I want is to be able to hit the trails for a run without having to worry about my safety,” says Joanne. Unfortunately though, Joanne says safety concerns are a reality for many, making self-defence skills crucial.

Joanne, an instructor with Rhee TaeKwon-Do for over six years, is passionate about empowering others. “Self-defence should be treated like CPR, an absolute necessity for everyone,” she said. Her upcoming free workshop aims to equip participants with practical self-defence techniques.

This workshop, the third free session Joanne has organized this year, targets the running community of the Sunshine Coast and beyond. It’s suitable for anyone who loves to run, hike, meditate, or simply wants to feel safe.

“Join us post Maleny trail parkrun for a free self-defence workshop hosted by Rhee TaeKwon-Do, Maleny Branch, in conjunction with Smiling Platypus projects,” Joanne said.

The Free Self-Defence Workshop will be held Saturday,  July 13 from 9am-10.30am at Maleny Sports Park, Parklands Drive, Via Porters Lane, Maleny. For information Contact: Jo 0418 193 176 or jo@sinclairturner.com or see the Facebook event page by searching for “self-defence workshop Maleny”.
