Locals turn out in style for  Op Shop’s Open Day

Mapleton’s RangeCare Op Shop marked its recent facelift with a well-attended Open Day on Wednesday, April 9.

The event at the shop’s home at 17 Obi Obi Road, welcomed a steady stream of locals who browsed the revamped store and sipped complimentary coffee.

The Op Shop is known for its wide array of pre-loved goods—from clothing and shoes to toys, bric-a-brac and small furniture. It is also a key fundraiser for the Blackall Range Care Group (RangeCare), supporting vital in-home and respite services for locals who wish to stay independent in their own homes.

“Every purchase directly helps our community,” a RangeCare spokesperson said. “The money raised goes straight back into services that support our most vulnerable residents.”

Volunteers were on hand throughout the morning to assist shoppers and share information about the store’s mission. RangeCare is always on the lookout for new volunteers to help with sorting, washing and ironing donated items.

The recent upgrades to the shop have made browsing easier and more enjoyable, with many Open Day visitors commenting on the fresh layout and inviting atmosphere.

The shop’s ethos values shopping sustainably and supporting a community-focused cause.
