Everyone’s wondering ‘who is Nambour’s Banksy?’

Deb Lawson has noticed tiny but intriguing artworks popping up around town but no-one seems to know who the artist is.

Mystery surrounds a beautiful work of art posted to a telephone pole in Nambour’s Howard Street.

Gatherer mixed retail store owner Deb Lawson said she noticed the tiny but compelling artwork recently and posted on Facebook Page ‘Living in Nambour’ enquiring as to its originator, but no one has any answers.

So the questions remain …  Who is the artist? Who is Jeff? And why does the person pictured “love Nambour more”?

“These little art submissions have been popping up in Nambour over the past year and every time you find one it makes you smile,” said Deb.

“As to why she loves Nambour more than Jeff? Many reasons could come to mind, but the biggest one right now — Nambour’s art and entertainment scene is about to come alive, and we’re just so excited to see it finally getting there!”

In addition to Nambour’s long-awaited Special Entertainment Precinct status Deb said Nambour had a lot to offer visitors, in addition to its very own Banksy.

“Come out and explore our streets and see what little gems you can find,” she said.

In fact she pointed the Gazette in the direction of a small laneway off Howard Street that was also lined with a collection of tiny artworks.

• Banksy is a famous pseudonymous England-based street artist, political activist and film director whose real name and identity remain unconfirmed and the subject of speculation.
