Nambour UBX comes out swinging in fitness rebrand
Business Writeup UBX: Boxing + Strength Nambour
The pandemic had the fitness industry down for the count for a time, upending the business models of gyms and moving workouts outside or into the home.
Despite the challenges 12RND Fitness Nambour is coming out punching in 2022. It’s rebranding to UBX Boxing + Strength and rethinking one of the world’s fastest growing and evolving sports. The franchise was founded in 2016 by four-time world champion boxer Danny Green and Brisbane-based PT-turned-fitness IT entrepreneur Tim West.
Nambour mother and son team Kaz Starr and Cam Morden joined in 2017 and have just finished the massive rebrand along with 94 other clubs across Australia.
“We’ve taken boxing out of the ring, democratised it, and removed timetables and other barriers to members that are often experience at a ‘traditional gym’,” said Kaz.
UBX (pronounced “you-box”) Nambour has members of all ages and abilities – with their oldest members over 60 and with more than 65 percent female members - who love the sport for its vast physical, mental health and self-defence benefits.
“Our passion has always been to bring boxing to more people, to give them the opportunity to train like a boxer,” said Cam. “It’s important everyone gets the opportunity to reap the benefits of boxing, without the risk of getting hit back.”
“It’s about giving everyone the opportunity whether you’re a new mum through to a professional athlete,” said Kaz. “Cam and I, along with our coach Em, work one-on-one with our members to make sure they are getting the best workout possible.
To celebrate the rebrand UBX: Boxing + Strength, in Mitchell Street Nambour, is hosting a free open day on May 28 and also giving away a 12-month membership to one lucky local member. To enter, either become a member of UBX, or if you’re already a member, refer a friend to UBX.
