Ladies get crafty in time for Nambour Show

For the past 20 years, a group of 25 craft loving local women have met in Nambour on a weekly basis to socialise and enjoy craft. 

“We have been so fortunate to have been given a dedicated space to use, at a minimal fee at the Nambour Showgrounds for the past 15 years,” said Heather Sutton, of The Girl’s Paper Cave and Feather’s Nest Creations in Yandina.

Craft Creations Nambour Inc gets together for friendship, fun and all things craft related.  

“At the beginning of each year we put together a program of what we would like to do each month and then we work through it,” Heather explained.

“We explore everything from crochet to beading and card making to sewing. We have a morning tea roster and it is a very rewarding and fun way to spend the morning.”

As in previous years, the group will be manning a stall at the Sunshine Coast Show adjacent to the huge number of craft entries at this year’s Show.

“Visitors can chat with us about craft in general and our group in particular,” said Heather.

“If there is a spare cabinet for us to use, we will be displaying a selection of our work as well. There will be demonstrations from our members in using alcohol ink to make cards, sewing a bag, crochet, embroidery and wire wrapping a pendant. These have been really popular in the past.”

Members of Craft Creations Nambour Inc will be at Sunshine Coast Show for the full three days and will be able to provide information to those who are interested in joining.

“Our Tuesday mornings are a real highlight of the week and we would love to welcome new members,” Heather said. 

“The Sunshine Coast Show is always such a great opportunity to showcase what we do and we love to think that we can help others get hooked on craft!”
