Nambour markets to showcase young musical talent
The popular Nambour Rummager’s Market is set to make a vibrant return on Sunday, 16 February 2025, with a fresh twist sure to captivate locals and visitors alike. This year, the market will continue to introduce Nambour Live & Local – The Sounds of Nambour, a new music initiative that aims to spotlight talented young performers from local high schools.
The markets, held on the third Sunday of each month, now feature performances by school bands, soloists, and other musical acts. The initiative aims to foster young talent while enhancing the vibrant atmosphere of the market.
Organiser Rhonda Billett is enthusiastic about the musical addition, which she says will breathe fresh energy into the monthly market. “There is such a huge pool of talent among our local high schools, and we want to provide a platform for them to share their creativity with the community,” Ms Billett said.
Nambour Live and Local was also looking to extend its program into businesses and other Nambour events within the Nambour Special Entertainment Precinct CBD zone. “Businesses and event organisers might like to host some of these young, talented students to add some smooth vibes and fun into the CBD and assist the students in reaching for the stars.
“The student music genres are adaptable, to fit most events and business styles, from solo artists on acoustic to full rock bands and more.
“Christmas Tram Fest 2024 saw an opportunity for us to bring students from St Johns College and Nambour State College into the CBD further and we were thrilled to see so many parents, grand parents, families, students and all their friends come into the CBD to support their friends whilst they performed. I loved what I saw, as did many others in the community. Our students are amazing and we want to share their talents with the local community further in 2025.”
The next Market is in February in Council’s Eddie De Vere building courtyard on the corner of Currie and Bury Streets and will run until November 2025.
