BUSINESS WRITEUP: LiFT Nambour Challenge

LiFT Nambour is about to host its first Conditioning Challenge, starting October 17.

And, according to LiFT Director Wendy Versluis LiFT42DAYS is not your typical fitness challenge.

“The focus of the challenge is to create and instill new behaviours which promote long-term sustainable change.

“The challenge is measured in percentage change in participants, with all data recorded and measured at the beginning and again at the end,” she said.

“It is neither a race nor a competition and it is focused on conditioning and the creation of new, supportive daily habits and long lasting behavioural change. Conditioning is the improvement of physical health through exercise, resulting in a stronger heart,” Wendy said. “So the testing and homework activities will be based on improving fitness and the rate of recovery, and challenging you to move more.

“Forty two days is an ideal timeframe for participants to commit to without being overly onerous,” Wendy explained.

The team at LiFT have worked hard to create a community environment to empower and inform members to take charge of their health and fitness.

“We recently hosted information evenings for our members and the general public, with Naturopath Janet Haworth and Nambour Sports and Spinal’s Exercise Physiologist Jordan Coonan, Physiotherapist Jarrad Heath and Gut Health, Women’s Health & Diabetes Dietitian Caitlin Follett where our guests heard about a range of topics,” said Wendy.

“Our members are people of all ages, and life, health and fitness backgrounds,” she said. “But what unites them is the desire to be part of a community that is welcoming and supportive, irrespective of their starting point.

“LiFT offers 3 challenges per year,” said Wendy. “Strength, Endurance and Conditioning. We encourage everyone who has personal health and fitness goals to participate in a Challenge, for a lot of us this can be a little push in the right direction to get back on track.

“I really want to emphasize that your goals are your own. We will tailor the challenge to your needs only.”
