Real-time hospital data now live for Nambour patients

Nicklin MP Marty Hunt: A real-time data website is now live, showing the number of patients waiting at hospitals, busiest times at EDs and number of treatment spaces.

Patients in Nambour and the Sunshine Coast Hinterland can now check real-time emergency department data before heading to hospital, thanks to the newly launched Open Hospitals website. The platform provides live updates on median wait times, patient numbers, and emergency department demand, helping locals make more informed healthcare decisions.

In its first week, more than 480 users accessed the portal to check emergency department conditions at Nambour General Hospital. The website updates every 15 to 30 minutes across 25 hospitals and health centres, offering greater transparency on hospital performance.

Member for Nicklin Marty Hunt said the initiative is a game-changer for the region.

“This real-time data gives locals greater insight into emergency department demand in our region, helping them make informed decisions about their healthcare needs,” Mr Hunt said.

“The Nambour General Hospital’s $86 million redevelopment has increased capacity for emergency care, and having up-to-date information on wait times and patient numbers will be invaluable for our community.”

The initiative is part of the Crisafulli Government’s 100 Day Plan, aimed at improving transparency and accountability in the health system.

The Open Hospitals portal, accessible at https://openhospitals.health.qld.gov.au, allows users to see how many patients are waiting, peak times for emergency departments, and the number of treatment spaces available.

Anyone in need of urgent medical attention should still go to their nearest emergency department or call Triple Zero (000).
