60s vibes return as Woombye prepares for Happy Days Festival

Festival director and Woombye Community Business Association president Milo Frawley.

Woombye’s biggest annual event, the Happy Days street festival, will transform the town into a 60s wonderland once again on Sunday, May 4, with organisers hoping to build on previous years’ success.

Festival director and Woombye Community Business Association president Milo Frawley said the family-focused celebration had become a highlight for the Sunshine Coast community.

“It’s all about families and community—those are the values we push,” Mr Frawley said at a recent Nambour Chamber of Commerce gathering.

Hill Street, home to the Woombye Bowls Club, will close from 10am to 5pm, filling with market stalls, classic cars courtesy of the Sunshine Coast Antique Car Club and local enthusiasts, and a bustling kids’ zone with jumping castles, face painting, and a petting zoo.

This year's festival will feature continuous live music and entertainment, with no downtime from opening to close.

“We were just going through the timetable yesterday, and there’s not a minute spare,” Mr Frawley said.

Entry is a gold coin donation, thanks to significant support from local sponsors, including major partner Bendigo Bank Woombye.

The event’s mega raffle, valued at over $2700, includes a fabulous two-night getaway at Starry Nights Luxury Camping in West Woombye, valued at $1600, along with prizes from Wildlife HQ, the Treetop Challenge, Sunshine & Sons, Nil Desperandum, and Woombye Cheese.

Festivities will continue after hours at the Woombye Pub, with further entertainment and fundraising raffles.

“We’re hoping for massive blue skies and a huge turnout—it really is a fantastic day for everyone,” Mr Frawley said.
