Kenilworth Country Bakery has added a new accolade to its name, taking home the title of Australia’s best sausage roll in the 2024 Wotif Uniquely Aussie Awards. Known for its creative donuts, the Sunshine Coast Hinterland bakery is now receiving national recognition for its savoury offerings.

Voted on by the public, the award highlights the bakery’s long-standing tradition of quality. Owner Jenna Sanders, a third-generation baker, said the win was unexpected.

“We’re stoked to have won, especially since we’re usually known for our donuts. It’s great to see our savoury items being recognised too,” she said.

The winning sausage roll is based on a recipe passed down through three generations. Made with oats instead of breadcrumbs, it’s a homemade classic that has become a favourite, with the bakery selling thousands each week. “This week alone we sold 2000 and it’s a slow week,” Ms Sanders said recently.

“We always thought our sausage roll was pretty awesome, and it looks like our customers agree!

“These beauties are hand-rolled, piped, and crafted fresh by our bakers daily—no shortcuts, just classic, delicious goodness. And now they’re officially Australia’s favourite!

“A huge thank you to everyone who voted and continues to support our family bakery. Come by and taste the award-winning roll for yourself!”

• Kenilworth Bakery also offers a 1kg sausage roll challenge for the truly hungry, and is located within a world heritage listed building.
