Cops enjoy coffee, conversations and cuddles with furry friends in Kenilworth

What do you get when you mix coffee, a cop, a couple of joeys, and a goat? A day to remember in the picturesque town of Kenilworth.

As part of Queensland Road Safety Week, the Sunshine Coast District Crime Prevention Unit had the pleasure of sharing a cup of coffee with locals, visitors, and passionate motorcycle riders at a ‘Coffee with a Cop’ event on Friday August 30.

The warm and friendly atmosphere made for fabulous conversations, where police connected with the community and had the unique experience of meeting some adorable joeys and even a friendly goat.

The event provided an excellent opportunity to discuss important road safety topics.

Police said the community was eager to hear advice and showed a strong commitment to staying safe on our roads.

“A big thank you to Sunshine Coast Highway Patrol for the invaluable assistance in making this event a success and to the Kenilworth community for their willingness to learn and positive attitudes,” a spokeperson said.

Data shows that serious crashes can be significantly reduced when drivers recognise and avoid the ‘Fatal Five’ behaviours: speeding, drink and drug driving, not wearing seatbelts, fatigue and distraction.
