Rising Jazz Star Jess Spina to perform at The Jazz Sessions in Nambour

Nambour’s jazz enthusiasts are in for a treat as the talented Jess Spina is set to perform at The Jazz Sessions on Thursday, 20th February. The event, hosted at The Presynct, promises an evening of exceptional music from one of Australia’s finest young vocalists.

Jess Spina, who began her jazz journey with a performance at the Brisbane Jazz Club at the tender age of 9, has grown into a celebrated artist. With a career that has already seen her place third in the prestigious National Jazz Awards at the 2020 Wangaratta Festival of Jazz and Blues, and perform at the Siena International Jazz Festival in Italy, Jess has established herself as a force in the jazz world. At just 21 years old, she was also nominated for the 2022 Freedman Fellowship Awards, marking her as one of the leading lights of Australian jazz.

The Jess Spina Quartet, featuring innovative musicians with years of shared experience, will deliver a set that pays homage to iconic jazz vocalists such as Sarah Vaughan, Harry Connick Jr., Carmen McRae, and Mel Torme. The night will be a blend of well-known standards and unique arrangements of lesser-known tunes, promising a captivating experience for all jazz lovers.

“Blessed with the finest of instruments, her voice conveys sincerity, emotional honesty, and joy,” said Kristin Berardi. Nick Smart, Director of the Royal Academy of Music in London, added, “Her singing is technically fluid, musically inventive, and she shows a deep musical awareness and flexibility in the moment.”

The event will be held at The Presynct, located at 15 Ann St, Nambour. Doors open at 6pm, with the show running from 7pm to 9.30pm. The venue offers a bar and cheese platters, and attendees are welcome to bring their own dinner.

Tickets are priced between $19 and $30, with limited seating available, so early booking is advised to secure a spot.
