The Bowlers Paradise Hinterland Local League (BPHLL) wrapped up its 2025 season with a spirited Presentation Day at Nambour Bowls Club.
Overcoming the challenges of recent floods from Cyclone Alfred, the club welcomed over 90 attendees to celebrate a season of fiercely contested matches.
This impressive league, featuring 28 teams from 11 clubs, stands as a testament to the enduring strength of hinterland bowling.
Paul Henricks, owner of key sponsor Bowlers Paradise, commended the league’s success, highlighting the high level of competition and sportsmanship.
Marty Hunt MP, patron of Yandina Bowls Club, presented prizes, emphasising the community spirit of bowls.
"It's less about results and more about smiles and camaraderie," he said, reflecting on his visit a few weeks prior to inspect flood damage at Nambour Bowls Club, noting the club's resilience.
League organiser, Andrew Friday, expressed gratitude to participating clubs and volunteers, emphasising the league's role in fostering local talent.
Paul Carson, owner of Sunshine Coast Bowls Shop and a Presentation Day sponsor, highlighted the league’s support for smaller clubs, creating a “more intimate” community atmosphere.
He donated a new set of bowls as a raffle prize, further fuelling the day’s excitement.
The BPHLL, in its 13th year, has grown significantly, showcasing the enduring appeal of competitive local bowls. The league, believed to be Australia's largest non-affiliated bowls competition, continues to build talent and strengthen community ties through engaging competition.
