Hinterland Blues go down fighting in derby. Round 3 this weekend v Mayne
Hinterland Blues went down trying in the QFA Div 1 Seniors hometown clash against Caloundra on April 1 at Caloundra.
Caloundra won 13.11.89 to 9.9.63. It was neck and neck all through the first quarter until Caloundra kicked away in the second period.
Despite some fast goals at the start of the last quarter generated from an impressive midfield attack, Caloundra was too strong and held on for a 4-goal victory built on a 47-25 lead at half time.
Best players for the Blues were Jack Mahon, Joshua Nanninga, Ryan Hovenden, Kane Henden, Jake Watts and Nathan Spring. Thomas Wischnat and Jeremy Mills each scored two goals.
In round 1 the Blues lost to Coorparoo 106-73.
• The Blues’ are sitting at 7th on the table and their next match is their first home game since being promoted from Div 2 to the higher comp. They take on Mayne, who are 6th on the table, at 2pm on Saturday April 15 at 2pm. The Club will also celebrate Ladies Day with food and beverages packages to celebrate the club’s female players and supporters.
