Fruit Tree Cottage sprouts new shipping branches, spicy club

Fruit Tree Cottage nursery, a family-owned and run fruit tree and edible plant specialist, is expanding its reach and offerings. The business now offers shipping throughout Queensland, New South Wales, ACT, Victoria and South Australia—a fantastic way to send gifts interstate or to have your trees delivered straight to your front door.

The chilli plant range has also grown to more than 80 varieties. Heidi West-Newman, proprietor of Fruit Tree Cottage, explains, “We have a very popular ‘Chilli Club’ where chilli lovers can stay up to date about newly added varieties.” Meanwhile, the fruit tree collection continues to expand as Heidi carefully selects new varieties. “We include unusual, unique, rare and exotic trees, but our main focus remains on offering the favourites that our customers tell us they want in their fruit bowl,” she adds.

Fruit Tree Cottage remains open to the public on Fridays from 10am to 2pm and Sundays from 8am to noon. Customers can also click-and-collect orders placed online at www.fruittreecottage.com.au or browse and purchase on the spot. Heidi is passionate about fruit trees—a passion passed down through generations. “Fruit can be grown in even the smallest outdoor space. There’s something for every garden and a wide range of trees that people don’t realise can be grown in pots or maintained on a smaller scale,” she said.

Her family’s farming background is evident at the nursery. Heidi’s grandparents farmed in Montville and her parents in Palmwoods, while her dad, Peter, is both a farmer and agricultural scientist. You can often find him at the nursery, sharing his 50-plus years of expertise.
