Community Bank branch gets behind a great cause

In August each year, Bendigo Bank branches across Queensland band together to host fundraising events for Care Flight as part of Chopper Awareness Month. This exciting annual event raises around $50,000 each year for Care Flight’s lifesaving community helicopter rescue service. Now we’re in September the money has been counted, and the Woombye Community Bank branches has raised in excess of $250 for the cause. Branch manager, Pauline Healey said the Woombye team got behind the cause by selling RACQ Careflight merchandise and raffle tickets for the past month.Pauline said locals and customers have been really supportive – particularly the raffle for the cute RACQ Careflight Pilot Bear, which was won by local, Karen Beardmore. Pauline said it’s just another part of what she loves about her job.“Like everyone else, I hope my loved ones never have to use the RACQ Care Flight Chopper service, but this is a fantastic cause that has saved so many lives and one I feel really strongly about. Locals were really supportive of this cause and we’re happy to play our small part as a branch and as a bank for our community in the larger state effort,” Pauline said.Bendigo Bank has generously hosted Chopper Awareness Month for the past six years. During August, the 57 branches across Brisbane, Gold Coast, South East, South West and the Sunshine Coast also competed against each other to be the highest fundraising region.
