Roll up your sleeves for Clean Up Aus Day

Locals are being called to action for Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday, March 2, with community groups across the hinterland organising clean-up events to help protect local parks, beaches and streets.

Participants can join an existing clean-up or register their own event via the Clean Up Australia Day website.

Among the groups already signed up are Eumundi Rotary, Nambour Scouts,  Night Eyes Water & Landcare, and Petrie Creek Catchment Care Group.

Council’s Environment and Liveability Portfolio holder Cr Maria Suarez said the initiative had a huge impact each year.

“Last year, around 8166 people collected four tonnes of rubbish across 100 different Sunshine Coast locations,” Cr Suarez said.

The council supports the event through its Waste 2 Resource Education Program.
