Blacksmith workshop forges new skills at Compass Farm
A grant from Palmwoods Heritage Community Branch has been put to great use for an exciting new project at Compass Farm.
The funding has been used to equip a Blacksmithing Shop which is a perfect compliment to the Farm’s existing Woodworking Shop.
“The two go hand-in-hand to make all sorts of creative pieces for sale at our retail store, Wabi Sabi (retail store), in Nambour,” said spokesperson Alison Stockel.
“It is a craft that looked like being forgotten, but is making a comeback with the resurgence of hand-made goods and crafts. Thanks so much Palmwoods Heritage for sharing our vision and to Andrew and the Farm team for making it happen.”
Compass purchased most of the equipment from Sekao Engineering Blacksmith Supplies.
• Compass Farm is a 20-acre property nestled in the hills of Hunchy. Established in 2011, the Farm is a place where young adults living with a disability can learn, gain diverse work experience and enjoy genuine vocational opportunities.
