Nambour’s Bishop back to St John’s
NAMBOUR’S own Bishop Sarah Plowman returned to St John’s Anglican Church to lead the Christmas Eve service at 7pm, much to the delight of parishioners. Bishop Sarah, who was once a member of the church’s Girls’ Friendly Society (GFS) under the guidance of Verlie Davies and Coral McVean, grew up in the congregation before heading to university in Brisbane.
“We were very excited to have Bishop Sarah, who grew up in Nambour returning to St John’s Anglican Church,” said Mrs McVean. “It was special for Sarah as she was an active member of the church until she went to university.” In upcoming news, the church will be hosting a special concert on Saturday, 22 February, featuring the St John’s Cathedral Boys’ and Men’s Choir, with possible guest performances from the Mapleton Choir and other soloists.
Bishop Sarah will lead the Sunday communion service the following day, where the choir will again perform. Further details will be announced once finalised.
