Buy a Car, Support a Family: Urban Angels serves meals with support from car dealers

As more families across the Sunshine Coast face food insecurity, the newly established Autopact Foundation has announced its support for Urban Angels Community Kitchen, a vital initiative of IFYS (Integrated Family and Youth Service).

This local collaboration “Buy a Car, Support a Family” unites leading dealerships, including Cricks Wises Road, Maroochydore, Nambour and Noosa, Cricks Volkswagen, Cricks Highway, Coastline BMW, Daimler Trucks Sunshine Coast, Caloundra Mazda, and Caloundra City Autos, all dedicated to supporting locals in need.

Urban Angels Community Kitchen prepares and distributes meals to vulnerable individuals and families across the Coast. Recent figures show a rising need, with thousands now reliant on services for daily meals. Urban Angels has already delivered 120,000 meals this year, underscoring the role of community organisations in supporting food security for those who are struggling.

“Through the Autopact Foundation, we’re proud to back Urban Angels and help feed our community,” said Alicia Stibbard, Executive Officer of Autopact Foundation. “It’s more important than ever for businesses to come together and give back to those who have supported us.”

As part of the initiative, every new and used car purchase from any participating dealership this Christmas season will help bring meals to those in need, symbolising how each car driven off the lot is also a meal driven home to a local in need.

“Every meal we prepare carries the care and support of the community, and with Autopact Foundation’s backing, we’re able to reach even more families struggling to put food on the table this Christmas,” said Birgit Sowden, Program Manager and Founder of Urban Angels Community Kitchen.

“This partnership is truly a lifeline for us, helping us extend our impact and continue nourishing those who need it most across the Sunshine Coast.”

This holiday initiative exemplifies “locals supporting locals” — a key strategy to ensure long-term support for the community. The partnership between the Autopact Foundation and these dealerships will help Urban Angels expand its reach, so that more families across the Coast receive the meals they need.
