Nambour coffee scene brews up new Zaraffa’s drive-thru

Zarraffa’s Coffee Nambour Franchisees Ben Old and James Burgess-Liehr.

CAFFEINE fix choices in Nambour have expanded yet again with the opening of another coffee shop.

Specialty coffee retailer Zaraffa’s opened its latest store – a drive-thru – next to the Ampol service station on Bli Bli Road on Monday, 20 November.

The store, the eighth Zaraffa’s on the Sunshine Coast and 75th in the franchise chain, is owned by Terry Bambury, James Burgess-Liehr, and Ben Old.

It is the first venture in Zaraffa’s ownership for James, who has worked his way up from junior barista to area manager over 23 years.

“It’s been an incredible trajectory for James and so rewarding to see one of our longest-serving employees finally realise his dream of store ownership,” said Zarraffa’s CEO, Marnie Sheldon.

“A huge part of our company success is the consistent reinvestment of our franchisees into new stores, and now we get to celebrate another level of achievement by James who brings a wealth of experience to the table.”

James said after two decades with Zarraffa’s it was the perfect time to transition to ownership. “As a local resident I am looking forward to doing the school run each day and then heading to our new store without leaving town, and we can’t wait to get involved in supporting our local community, our schools and clubs in the area.”

James said that in addition to serving exceptional coffee, Zarraffa’s Coffee Nambour would contribute to the local community by providing employment for about 25 people.

The store will trade from 5am – 8pm seven days a week.

Coffee shops are flourishing at such a rate in Nambour that they are outnumbering the op shops for which the town has developed a reputation.

There are about 24 coffee shops currently open for business.

Meanwhile, Banksia Espresso opened in Anne Street last week.
