Much-loved shop cat passes away

Rest in peace Nat. The Feed Barn cat passed away September 28.

Yandina locals will be saddened to hear that much loved Yandina Feed Barn cat, Nat, passed away last Wednesday September 28.

“Nat had been diagnosed with kidney failure some time ago,” said owner Andree Ravenscroft.

“We tried to persevere with a special kidney diet but as anyone who was familiar with Nat will know, he was not having a bar of it! In the end, we decided that we did not want to upset him every meal time, or force medication on him - which he also hated. So in the end, we knew it was time, and he passed peacefully and without fuss.”

Andree and Lyle adopted Nat from the Noosa RSPCA 17 years ago and he was the ‘shop cat’ right from the start.

“He was a great little hunter and he kept the mice and rats away from the shop but in his retirement years he was not so keen” Andree said.

“All of our customers loved Nat because he had quite a personality,” said Andree.

“In his final years, he loved nothing more than lying out the front in the sun, and terrorising passing dogs! He was attacked by a dog when he was younger and it was his way of striking back. I think it is safe to say that local dogs will be able to relax when they walk past.”

Nat has been cremated and his ashes will be returned to the shop.

“It seems fitting to bring him back to his home,” said Andree.

“I think he had a very happy life here. He had a big personality for a little cat and I can’t believe how much we are missing him already.”
