Mapleton is set to be swept up in the spirit of Wuthering Heights – Red Dress Day, a global phenomenon that originated as a flash mob re-enactment of Kate Bush’s iconic 1978 music video in the UK. On July 30, starting at 1pm, locals and visitors alike will come together for an unforgettable experience.
The event will feature live music by a talented singer, along with exciting opportunities to win prizes through raffles and trivia. Dance and fitness teachers will lead rehearsals, ensuring participants are ready to showcase their moves in a memorable group dance, which will be filmed for posterity. Laughter and picture-perfect moments will abound, all while raising funds for DV Safe Phone, a worthy cause.
To keep energy levels high, the Blackall Range Lions Club will be firing up the BBQ, while the Mapleton School P&C will tempt taste buds with their famous bake sale. Refreshments, including soft drinks, will be available for purchase, and attendees are welcome to bring their own water (no glass, please).
This community event is designed to be inclusive and family-friendly, with the support of generous sponsors and MADCA, the Mapleton and District Community Association.
