Woombye's Little Characters to open in January

Despite the lack of records, Woombye's pioneering families agree the first classes were held in Mr Stumpf's boarding house in 1885. Through the years the boarding house has been turned into all sorts of trading businesses, many locals still remember the last venture; Characters Restaurant. More than 100 years later the building will have come full circle when Little Characters Early Learning Centre opens on Monday, January 5. Owners Matthew and Kerry Hanson have spent three years building their vision to provide a childcare service combining the charm and warmth of Grandma's house with modern child care facilities.  And it looks amazing! Kerry said it has always been her dream to create a centre with a very homey feel about it, "We really want the centre to feel like home," Kerry said. "We have an open door policy and welcome parents and family to participate, spend time in the centre and share ideas with us. It is only a small centre and my staff have worked for me before so we are all looking forward to opening the doors next year."Little Characters will care for children from birth to 5 years-of-age. Located on Schubert Road in Woombye, the 47 place centre will consist of a nursery, and a large flexi -space  catering for Todkins (2-3 age group) and the Junior Kindy (3-5 age group). The program will include indoor and outdoor activities, the centre has an amazing outside area with a veggie garden and a few chickens who are already enjoying the new facility.  A local chef will prepare the meals each day, wow to be a child again...There are vacancies still available, so Mum's and Dad's call Kerry today and take a peep for yourself, you will be impressed!
