Dive into art & woodwork sale at Mapleton Library and Community Centre

The books constitute those volumes unable to be included in the library’s collection.

A ‘one only’ chance to purchase quality art supplies will take place on the Blackall Range later this month.

A large collection of art supplies and art books as well as numerous woodwork books will be on sale at the Mapleton Library and Community Centre on Saturday September 30. The sale, on the library verandah, will commence at 10am and close at 2pm.

Easels, a light box and a stretching frame constitute the large items, while an extensive range of full and part sheets of top quality watercolour and pastel papers, will be available at bargain prices.

A huge selection of pastels and ink along with oils and gauche will be there for you to choose from, along with top quality art books.

The books encompass art history and books featuring the works of highly acclaimed artists from Europe and Australia.

The titles include a selection from the life collections of art books accrued by two former residents of the Sunshine Coast and subsequently donated to the library. They constitute those volumes unable to be included in the library’s collection. “Many would only be found in larger national reference libraries,” said Library President Nita C Lester.

The woodcraft books include many project guides ranging from complete plans for building a complex gazebo to parquetry designs and instructions for carving the figures and building a carousel.

The Mapleton Library and Community Centre is the home of Mapleton Art, a group of dedicated artists who meet weekly to further their own skills and offer workshops and classes to the broader community. These art and woodwork supplies have been carefully catalogued in preparation for this once only sale.
