Order up! New owner takes on Windsor Road Lunchbox

Veerpal Kaur: “I have enjoyed getting to know each and every one of our customers by name, and I even know their orders by heart”.

Regulars to the popular Windsor Road Lunchbox will, by now, be familiar with the new faces behind the counter. Late in 2021, new owner Veerpal Kaur took over the bustling Burnside takeaway cafe.

“I had been working in Aged Care for 7 years and while I enjoyed the experience very much, I was looking for a new challenge,” Veerpal said. “I saw that the cafe was on the market, so I took a deep breath, and jumped right in. When I first took over I was welcomed by the fantastic staff and I really couldn’t have made such a smooth transition without them. We have a lot of fun working together and I am loving every minute. I haven’t looked back”.

The Windsor Road Lunchbox has become popular over the years for its fresh, tasty food, cooked to order.

“I really haven’t changed a thing,” Veerpal said. “Our regulars have their favourite meals and we wouldn’t dream of changing them.

“Our food is very simple, but it is tasty and done very well. I think that our customers particularly appreciate the freshness and we also get many compliments about the generous portions.

“To me, the sign of success is when almost all of your business is from repeat customers. I have enjoyed getting to know each and every one of our customers by name, and I even know their orders by heart,” she laughed. “It is the best change I have ever made”.
