Swap Meet, Jazz, Swing and Footy: What's on in the Hinterland

Soon you can enjoy an afternoon showcasing iconic Australian jazz artist, Monica Trapaga –  a Weaver of Stories, a Swinger of Songs.  Monica, pictured, is a passionate artist and performer.  She has a contagious energy and wit. In this wonderfully entertaining afternoon Monica is accompanied by some of her favourite musicians - Todd Hardy (trumpet), Steve Russell, (piano), Helen Russell (bass) and Dave Sanders (drums). The annual Nambour Swap Meet will be held on Saturday, July 29, from 6am to noon, on the Nambour Showgrounds at 80 Coronation Avenue. This event is brought to you by the Sunshine Coast Antique Car Club See our Swap Meet link on our website: scacc.org.au for further details or phone 0472 596 973. Swap site holders are welcome to access the Showgrounds from midday on Friday 28th July through until 5am on Saturday, July 29.  There will be a range of food and coffee vendors on site so people may ‘charge their batteries’ during the morning.  The main entrance to the Nambour Showgrounds and the Crusher Park Drive or Bli Bli gates will open to the public at 6am. Entry remains at $5 per person and $5 per vehicle for on-site parking.

Oriana presents ‘Beneath the Southern Cross’. Two concerts … From Georgie Girl to You’re the Voice, acclaimed Sunshine Coast ensemble, Oriana Choir, will present a celebration of Australian music from across the decades. Concerts are at 2pm on Sunday, August 13 at the Trinity Centre, St Rita’s College, Clayfield and at 2pm on Sunday, August 20 at Stella Maris Catholic Primary School, Maroochydore. Beneath the Southern Cross will be conducted by renowned Queensland Musical Director Paul Holley, and accompanied by Annabelle Clucas and the Oriana Band.
