Anniversary concert series brings Baroque magic to Eudlo
Step into the enchanting world of Baroque music as Arioso Chamber Ensemble commemorates a decade of musical brilliance with their 10th anniversary concert series: Arioso 10. Judit Molnár (soprano) will perform a selection of beautiful works including the cantata “Rotte L’Aspre Catene” by Italian composer Antonio Caldara, Vivaldi’s “Mentre Dormi”, and Purcell’s moving “Dido’s Lament”. The captivating sounds of Rameau, Marais and Morel will be brought to life in instrumental dances and pieces by Margaret Caley (baroque violin), Shannon Scheltema (viola da gamba) and Janet Brewer (harpsichord). Arioso Chamber Ensemble brings together the talents and experience of leading specialists in Baroque performance. Formed in January 2014 for the “Music by the Sea” Festival, they have since performed at many festivals and concert series. Their extensive repertoire features well known Baroque favourites as well as lesser-known gems, many of which are included on their recent CD “Pearls”. The group aims to present high quality engaging performances and workshops with an emphasis on Historically Informed Practice. Burnside Community Twilight Markets
This Saturday night (April 20) Hope Community Church presents its regular Burnside Community Twilight Markets. Everyone is invited to come along and bring a picnic rug and enjoy food, music and markets from 5pm. The markets will include free jumping castle and face painting for the kids, food trucks, live music, over 20 market stalls. Hope Community Church is at 86 Windsor Road, Burnside.
Snakes v Reds local derby this weekend
This Saturday, April 20, sees the annual local derby football match between arch rivals Woombye Snakes and Nambour Yandina United. The Jade's Memorial Round games include Under 23s who start at 4pm with Premier Mens kicking off at 6pm at Woombye Football Fields. Snakes President David Gaskin says it should be a fun day with a TV Dress Up theme and full bar and canteen open as usual.
Crushers Face Stanley River on Saturday
Nambour Rugby League Club played two hard fought away games last weekend, with both Men’s teams going down in close games. A Grade lost to Caboolture 20-12, while Reserves went down against the Stanley River Wolves 22-14. This followed a promising 18-16 opening round win against Maroochydore in A Grade. The Crushers return to the training paddock this week with both grades preparing for a trip to Woodford on Saturday to face Stanley River Rugby League Football Club in A Grade, and Gympie Devils in reserves. The Crushers A grade are fifth on the table.
Blues bounce back for massive win
The Hinterland Blues have bounced back from their round 1 defeat in the QFA Div 1 Seniors to score a huge round 2 win against Beenleigh 202-56 at Palmwoods last weekend. This followed a first round loss to Mayne 108-85. This weekend the Blues are away to Springwood. Hinterland then plays Moreton Bay at Palmwoods at 2pm April 27. Hinterland Blues are third on the Div 1 ladder.

Yandina artist highly commended at ‘Seeing the Soul’ Art Prize
Emerging Yandina artist Jasmine Veronique has clinched the prestigious Highly Commended Award for her artwork "Innocent Harmony" at the Seeing the Soul Art Prize and Exhibition. The exhibition opened Saturday and continues until 12 May. Innovative production explores love’s complexity
Contemporary theatre group, D.I.V.E. Theatre Collective, is set to captivate audiences with their latest production, “Amor,” an immersive exploration of the intricate facets of love. Directed by Cesar Genaro and featuring a diverse ensemble cast, “Amor” promises to push the boundaries of traditional theatre. Breaking away from conventional theatre settings, “Amor” will be staged at the intimate Black Box Theatre in Nambour’s Old Ambulance Station. Arts & Crafts Group stages Annual Autumn Fair
The Maleny Arts and Crafts Group will be holding their Autumn Fair from Friday the 3rd of May through to Monday the 6th of May at the Maleny Community Centre. The Fair is open from 9am to 4pm on Friday and Saturday, 9am to 3pm on Sunday and 9am to 2pm on Monday. The Maleny Community Centre is at 23 Maple Street Maleny, next to the Visitor’s Centre and there is plenty of extra parking behind the building on Bicentenary Lane.
BreastScreen mobile service coming to Maleny
The BreastScreen Queensland mobile service will be at Maleny Hospital in May offering free breast screening for women 40 years and over. The service will be offering more early and late appointments, including appointments up to 5.30pm on Monday 13 May. BreastScreen Queensland mobile service will be in Maleny from 30 April to 21 May. Museum exhibition recreates Nambour’s old-fashioned entertainment scene
A NIGHT out in Nambour these days might look like a nice shirt and a decent pair of jeans, a few beers, a pub feed, or a live band in a dark room. But what did they look like in days gone by, when social occasions were often more formal and decorum was worn with pride? The Nambour Museum’s upcoming exhibition, A Night Out in Nambour, celebrates the buzzing entertainment scene that existed during the town’s glory days in the 20th century. A Night Out in Nambour will open on 20 April and will be available for viewing for about two months.
Anzac Day – Lest we forget
Commemorate ANZAC Day on Thursday, April 25. The day, derived from Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, honors the sacrifices made during World War I. Pay tribute to the courage and valour of Australian soldiers lost in military operations.
