We are Backing Nambour!

Welcome to the Gazette’s “I Am Nambour” Pictorial Feature, a chance for local businesses and organisations to share the love they have for the town that made the Sunshine Coast what it is today.

Spring is the perfect time to highlight some of our wonderful local businesses and organisations and promote Reimagine Nambour’s vibrant ‘I Am Nambour’ Brand. The response to this feature was great so we decided early to extend the initiative through September.

It's an opportunity to join other local businesses and collectively market under a brand that promotes pride in the town.

The “I Am Nambour” brand was unveiled June 8 to embody  the diversity, resilience and pride of the town’s business community as part of Fairfax MP Ted O’Brien’s Nambour Economic Transition Strategy.

Please enjoy the Gazettes “I Am Nambour” Feature and stay tuned for similar initiatives within our readership.

One of Nambour’s favourite cafes, Husk and Honey changed ownership earlier this year, but it is still a family owned and run affair.

Manpreet Kaur, her brother Lucky, and their sister in law Mona, have stepped in and continue to offer delicious grain free goodies to the cafe’s loyal customers.

“Our family came to Australia from Northern India in 2016,” Manpreet said. “After I finished a business degree at QUT, I decided I wanted to go into my own business. Husk and Honey was definitely the best fit, as I have always been an avid cook. I am so fortunate to be in business with my brother and my sister-in-law, who is a well seasoned barista.”

Husk and Honey remains a grain free cafe but due to popular demand, the family have added Indian teas, fresh juices and milkshakes to the menu.

“We have also had loads of requests for Indian cuisine, and over time we plan to introduce some of the beautiful dishes of our culture,” Manpreet said. “For the moment, it is wonderful to get to know locals and to continue to serve the delicious popular dishes they have become accustomed to from Husk and Honey.”

Going into the business during the past year has provided many challenges, but the team at Husk and Honey have quickly moved to offer takeaways for those who can’t do without their grain free fixes.

Husk and Honey is at 16/18 Queen Street Nambour and is open from 7am to 2pm, Monday to Friday.
