Local flavours shine: Warrior’s modern Australian cuisine wows diners
Business Feature: Warrior Restaurant & Bar
Wrapped in nature is the Sunshine Coast’s unique Warrior Restaurant & Bar. Warrior is located at The Crocodile Hunter Lodge, Australia Zoo’s luxury accommodation, and offers an unparalleled fine dining experience to everyone, including those not staying at the Lodge.
Warrior was named by the Irwin family, as a way of paying tribute to Steve Irwin who first coined the term Wildlife Warrior, and in honour of the next generation, Grace Warrior.
Bindi Irwin said, “Warrior celebrates Dad’s love for family and fun, and we are so delighted to be able to welcome guests to this fabulous restaurant. With our passion for wildlife conservation, it is a unique fine dining experience whilst overlooking our gorgeous resident kangaroos, koalas and emus.”
At every turn, Warrior exudes a welcoming warmth that is purely Australian, and reflects and celebrates the beauty of the Australian bush. Personal family touches can be found everywhere, from Robert Irwin’s stunning photography to timber recycled from the original crocodile viewing grandstands at Australia Zoo, and composite walls made using the warm red soil taken from the family property. It is impossible not to feel the Irwin family’s love of and connection to the Australian landscape and its wildlife.
Warrior Restaurant & Bar combines the classical techniques of world cuisine with modern Australian cooking. Using locally sourced ingredients including native flora like karkalla and quandongs to create appetising dishes, Warrior pays homage to the First Nation people and the plant life that has nourished them for thousands of years.
The meals are perfectly balanced and proportioned using fresh, seasonal ingredients and there is a selection of dishes that will appeal to all tastes and appetites. Every plate that leaves the kitchen is visually beautiful, and served with a smile. The staff at Warrior have raised hospitality to a fine art.
Diners at Warrior can pair their meals with a carefully curated selection of wines, beers, ciders and cocktails. The restaurant also offers a private dining room which is perfect for functions and celebrations, as well as a degustation area. The decor and surroundings would be incredible for a wedding or elopement.
Understandably, Warrior has fast become a favourite with locals. Terri Irwin said, “At Warrior, you can book a table for breakfast, lunch or dinner and be surrounded by our natural world. We hope that guests who dine at Warrior leave with a sense of refreshment and reconnection with nature and our community, helping us achieve what Steve dreamed of.”
