Fisher MP reveals thoughts on Federal Campaign and re-election

Andrew Wallace wants to build better roads and rail, boost mental health outcomes, and back small businesses and local manufacturers.

Andrew Wallace MP has been re-elected to a third term as the Federal Member for Fisher, on the Sunshine Coast.

Mr Wallace, who was first elected in 2016, said he was grateful for the opportunity to continue serving as the Federal Member for Fisher, and that he is as determined as ever to keep delivering for the Sunshine Coast.

“I am incredibly grateful to the people of Fisher for putting their faith in me once again, to represent them in the 47th Parliament,” Mr Wallace said.

“While it wasn’t the national result we were hoping for, the great joy and challenge of democracy is that we work across party lines to deliver for the people who elected us to represent them.”

“I remain steadfast in my commitment to fight for Sunshine Coast families and their businesses, including for vital infrastructure like the Sunshine Coast Rail project, for which Labor has yet to match our funding. It is my hope that Labor will acknowledge the will of the Sunshine Coast people and get on-board to deliver the project,” Mr Wallace said.

“I will continue to fight for the issues that affect us at the local level with the same tenacity and devotion. While it will look a little different from the opposition benches, my mission remains the same: to make Fisher the place to be for education, employment, and retirement.

“This means building better roads and rail, boosting mental health outcomes, and backing small businesses and local manufacturers. It also means protecting the unique character of our community,” he added.

Since being established in 1949, the Division of Fisher has been a source of federal ministers and Speakers. Encompassing nearly 1200 square kilometres, and home to over 125,000 electors and their families, the southern Sunshine Coast seat has grown in population by nearly 30% since the 2016 Federal Election.
